Catalina State park

Today we went to Catalina State Park and hiked two 1-mile trails....the Nature Trail and Birding Trail.  Sydney did great in her carrier as she slept the entire time.

Nature Trail

Catalina Mountains
Instead of a variety of trees in Minnesota, we have started learning about the various cacti and desert plants in Arizona.
Engelmann's Prickly Pear (i.e. Mickey Mouse ears)

Not sure...
Saguaro (the tall ones behind Paul).  These are a signature desert plant for Arizona.  This is a young one, because Saguaros do not develop arms until they are at least 75 years old.

An older Giant Saguaro, because of the additional arms.

Arizona Barrel Cactus
Chain Fruit Cholla

Birding Trail
